What are You Packing?

Piarco International Airport, Trinidad
We're zero-minus-one-month before departure now and I'm having a difficult time not dragging out my suitcase right now. So, since I'm mentally packing, I thought you might be as well. What are you Trinidad and Tobago Trippers planning to bring? I thought that our sharing might help each other out. For example, if I mention that I'm planning to bring hiking boots and flip flops, then someone else might remember to, too. So share your packing lists... and add more later as needed! And don't forget to check out the packing tips listed on the left side of this blog's homepage.

  1. I'm not sure if you guys have noticed, but being Irish, I wanted to point out that St. Patrick's Day is March 17th, the Saturday we are in Port of Spain for the day. It will be interesting to see if they observe this "holiday" or know about it from foreigners. Anyways... my long winded point is that you may want to pack at least one piece of green clothing :-)

  4. I got a universal adapter for our electrical needs. Hopefully it will work. lol! Only one thing can be plugged into it at a time, so that's a bit of a bummer.

This means lots of tank tops, shorts, and most definitely FLIP-FLOPS :-D Gotta get our flip-flop tans going! Can't forget the shades (sunglasses) & sunscreen. I'll prob throw in a nice blouse or 2 in case we get to go to parliament. Lastly, a light jacket for "chilly" nights.

  6. Don't forget to check into a mosquito net for Tobago - I got one at campmor.com about $30.00

I'm bringing light hiking shoes rather than boots - less weight

  9. Will we need any sort of sheets or do all our lodging areas provide them? Also, will we need to bring our own towel, like a beach towel?

  10. Sooo... I just realized you can pack several 3oz liquid containers, however, they must all fit into ONE 1qt size zip-lock bag per person. I guess that means most of us will be checking luggage, or maybe just buy sunscreen there? I assume the places we're staying will have shampoo & soap?

  11. Layna--If you want a beach towel, you should pack one. Erin-- I'd plan to check luggage--remember, you're going to want space to bring back souvenirs! Pack your own shampoo and conditioner but assume that we'll be given soap.

  13. My dad brought up an inexpensive telescoping fishing pole (breaks down to 15in) so we can share that in Charlotteville if there is a dock or something.

  14. Michelle, speaking of brining personal medications, are we going to have a group 1st Aid kit? I have a small pocket size one with a few band-aids, alcohol swabs & gauze I can pack, just the EMT/PA-S in me ;-)

  16. Just FYI, Target's camping section has heavy duty bug spray. I got one that's 40% deet and one that's 98% deet. I plan on wearing it as my perfume the whole trip!

  17. Good call! I got 2 pocket sized 98% Deet bug sprays :) figured pocket size will be good in case a.m. spray isn't good enough and need to reapply in the bush or other outing (hopefully they won't be that bad tho)
